‘What if the one who was lying in the ditch that day was a young mom, had her first kid in high school, works for Walmart (or any other fortune 500 company that barely pays minimum wage) no insurance, pregnant again, and laying in the ditch because the kids’ dad just beat her within an inch of her life AGAIN.?”  What if she were homeless, jobless, or an immigrant?

There are plenty of “priests” and “Levites” in their lives.  But who will be their neighbor?

All Authority. ALL POWER.

Would you connect your home computer to a car battery?  How about hooking up that 220 volt stove or dryer to a 110 volt outlet?  Why not?  Because if you need serious power, you hook up to serious power.  Why then, would we do any less with our faith needs?  Plug into the power of Jesus and see what happens next!

A Glimpse of Heaven

The great heavenly city, the “New Jerusalem,” a vision given to John at a time when the church suffered greatly.  “Where is God?”  God comes to God’s people, generation after generation and forevermore into the future.  In Rev. 21 – we have a picture painted for us, a vision of a city whose gates are never closed, a city that does not need light or temple, for Jesus is both, a city with a bright crystal river and leaves for the healing of ALL nations.  A city where welcome and hope are intimate and infinite.

Pentecost Sunday: Signed, Sealed and Delivered

The events of that first Pentecost as recorded in Acts chapter two were pretty astonishing.   The flash of the "tongues of fire" and the "speaking in tongues" were so spectacular in fact, that sometimes we miss something that's just amazing (but not quite so flashy).  What I'm talking about is that "each one heard them speaking in the native language of each." Why is that amazing?  Well, it's just one more way that God shows us that God doesn't play favorites.  God comes to each person, just as they are.  Whoever they are, wherever they are, the Good News is for them. It's for you too.
